I purchased this CD specifically for the original version of the “Canoe Song” (From Sanders Of The River).[…]Don’t expect the latest thing is sound quality…these are truly old recordings. What you do get are a collection of wonderful old renditions by a wonderful vocalist. The CD is really atmospheric and one that I enjoy on my hi-fi system…seems a contrary comment to the one I made about the original recording sound quality. Don’t worry you will enjoy it!With regard to my title for this review, bear in mind these old songs were often set in the context of slavery, some words may have been changed in more recent versions of the songs, I guess to pander to modern “politically correct” sensibilities. I prefer my old songs in their original and unadulterated form.Buy the CD and make up your own mind! Thanks
