The Liverpool Godfather This film was a lot better than I was expecting and I was gripped throughout. It is very violent and very dark at times (parts of it made me think of American Psycho). It easily earns an 18 rating with lots of sex, violence and bad language. A good story and some very funny bits involving a rather large lady (not for the easily offended). It largely resists all the recent gangster movie cliches … but still has a few… although not a Mockney in sight! It borrows plot lines from “The Godfather part 2” … sibling rivalry, a gangster wanting to go straight. Has a similar feel to “The Long Good Friday” in terms of realism, the violence is very real and the characters are genuine. I actually thought the acting was one of its strong points! … maybe some of the acting is a bit OTT but not much.
